While I don't typically take photos with a camera, I decided to pick up my Pana GH5S with a Leica lens on May 7th, 2020, during the height of the pandemic in New York. Despite the circumstances, I was drawn to the empty streets of Manhattan and wanted to capture the emotions and mood of the environment.
For me, the focus of these photos was on symmetry and creating a sense of surrealism while also keeping the shots grounded in reality. I wanted to showcase my unique perspective on how the environment felt at that time.
Even though I usually use my iPhone for photography, using a camera allowed me to fully capture the atmosphere of the empty city streets. These photos serve as a reminder of the unprecedented times we went through during the pandemic and the emotions that came with it.
Overall, this experience taught me the importance of capturing the world around us, even during challenging times. It's essential to document our surroundings and the emotions we feel so that we can remember them and learn from them in the future.
